We use Net Trekker to help students learn about "Christmas Around the World" during the holiday season. They are alwasy amazed to know that children from other countries do not celebrate the same way we do.

I tried the snowflake search today. Our original lab assignment was going to be too long for our shortened day, so we created virtual snowflakes as you suggested and I made use of the lesson plan. One of the sites let the students add a greeting, so I had them write a riddle in that box. Thanks for the idea.
