Academy of Achievement

Students learn and achieve in many different ways, as you know. Now you can help your students see the value in their own approach.  Using biographies of great role models to show examples of different styles and approaches to achievement is easy with netTrekker!

Two approaches will help you with this initiative, depending on your own style. First, check out the Teacher Tools area.  Teacher Tools is full of great learning styles and strategies, and will help you address that old but new again area of character education:

Teacher Tools > Learning Styles and Strategies > Character Education

Next, use the keyword of “Achievement” with a refinement of Biographies (under the Learning Aides Menu) to get sites about great leaders and how they have achieved.  One great example is Today’s Site of the Day, the Academy of Achievement! This resource offers biographical sketches of hundreds of modern “leaders, visionaries, and pioneers” from around the world, and from the fields of the arts, business, public service, science and exploration, and sports. Learn both what makes these men and women unique and what common traits have placed them in this list. Be inspired and challenged by their lives and deeds to see how you might change the world, too. You can even search the list based on some of your own qualities to find people to whom you might look as mentors or role models!
