Smithsonian Source: Lesson Plan: Fact, Fiction, or Bad Memory
Use this great lesson plan from Smithsonian Source to commemorate the Boston Massacre, which occurred on March 5, 1770. By using primary and secondary source documents students can evaluate bias or point of view while investigating the truth behind what really happened outside the Boston Customs House between the colonists and British soldiers. Giving students an opportunity to evaluate the reliability and motivation behind sources allows them to develop necessary skills in critical thinking. This plan is appropriate for grades 4-12 and national standards are addressed for this grades.
