UNC College of Arts and Sciences: The Writing Center
Take a look at this treasure trove of hand-outs from the University of North Carolina’s writing center. The four major topics deal with writing the paper, concerns about style and sentence structure, specific kinds of writing, and writing for particular fields of study. These hand-outs are very detailed and an excellent resource for upper level high school students, but the information can be mined and simplified to be used with middle school students as well. Be sure to look at the “Should I Use ‘I’?” hand-out. Implementing its suggestions would make all of us better writers.
