Teachers Hold the Key: Unlocking Abilities
My son, Joey, has a T-shirt that says, “If you can read this, thank a teacher”. Joey has a learning disability, or rather, disabilities. If I’ve conducted training for you, you’ve probably heard the story of Joey and Read Aloud. I recently demoed how to use Read Aloud with a special education teacher at a technology fair and we were discussing my son. The teacher quickly corrected me and said, “Joey doesn’t have a learning disability. He has the potential to learn, so he has learning possibilities. We just need to find the right tools that enhance each learner’s capabilities, and helps them reach their potential.”
I want to take that statement one step further. netTrekker is a cool tool, and we definitely have the tools to help you unlock students potentials. But it goes back to the shirt “If you can read this, thank a teacher.” If the students are using netTrekker in their school, or ANY other tool, it’s because the teachers have taken the time to learn the tool, they have taken the time to implement it in their classroom and integrate it into their lessons. They have taken the opportunity to truly unlock all the possibilities.
And for that, on behalf of all the different children that you teach, netTrekker thanks you.
I would love to hear stories about teachers who have helped you unlock your potential and you would love to thank. We’d also love to have you join us on the netTrekker Village to share how you unlock all of your students’ abilities. If you participate in the commenting or the blog, you’ll have a chance to get a small thank you from netTrekker!
Happy Teacher Appreciation Week!
Promethe-WHAT?
Pro-ME-thee-in, that’s what!
Some of you are quick to brush this wonderful resource aside because your school or district doesn’t own Interactive Whiteboards, but WAIT!
You can still view & use Promethean Flipcharts even if you don’t have Interactive Whiteboards!
Simply click on
to download software which will allow you to view these teacher created resources.
Then click on
and either open the flipchart immediately or save it to your desktop.
“I don’t have time to find the Promethean Resources.”
By utilizing netTrekker’s COLLECTIONS refinement menu, you’re able to quickly and easily browse through thousands of Promethean resources.
“What kind of resources does this Promethean offer?”
These educator created flipcharts allow teachers to browse lesson plans, in multiple subjects, and incorporate into their curriculum. Whether it’s to be used in the planning of a concept or for the students to master a concept, Promethean flipcharts will enhance any lesson.
In fact, here’s how you find one!
Under the Middle School Tab, I entered the keyword, government.
I narrowed my results by selecting Promethean located in the Collections refinement menu.
Scrolling down, I found the flipchart Promethean: A New Government.
What’s all the Twitter of a PLN?
Twitter. What a strange word, but one I have come to fully appreciate this past year. Twitter is the basecamp to my Personal Learning Network, commonly referred to as “PLN”. My PLN keeps me up to date and gives me a connection to what’s going on in the world of education.
One of the members of my PLN include John Lien of Orange County, Florida. John has shared some awesome links and integration ideas with me over the year simply by posting a 140 character Twitter Response. John was also netTrekker’s first Twitter follower. Another important PLN member is Tim Childers of Tennessee. He and I met once in person, but I learn so much from him online and feel comfortable going to him with quick questions. He was even the first member of the new netTrekker’s Facebook Group.
There are so many other social media gathering spots that PLNs share today. netTrekker will be joining those places so we can learn from each other. Meet us today on Twitter, Plurk, and Facebook to help create a learning network for all netTrekker users.
Hello World!
This past year netTrekker d.i. Training Specialists have conducted nearly 400 customer trainings. At each of those trainings we see participants experiencing an “a-ha” moments or we gain an insightful tip from them. At a recent training, I shared one of those tips and was asked, “Do you have a place where we can go read other great tips and ideas about how to use netTrekker d.i.?”Our team thought about that question. We have communication mediums, such as our newsletter and “Did You Know” emails, but we did not have a platform to share these tips as they come to us in a timely manner.
Until now.
I’d like to introduce to you the netTrekker d.i. Blog! We hope that our blog will bring you tips and ideas to meet your classroom needs with entries about differentiated learning, inspiration with lesson ideas from some of our great users, and funtastic ideas from our training classes. From our survey of the Opinion Group, we learned that our users are interested in best practices, how to integrate netTrekker d.i. with our partner’s products, technology trends, and 21st Century Skills, along with training and implementation tips and strategies. We plan on sharing what we’ve learned on those topics with you. We want to inspire you in your use of netTrekker d.i.
So help me in welcoming netTrekker d.i. to the blogosphere by leaving a comment telling us what you’re looking forward to most and introducing yourself to the netTrekker d.i. community!
